Christmas time for me is about spending time with my family. I was lucky enough to receive several new cook books for christmas and thought I would share them on my blog! I have already tried recipes from a few of these books (one of which was from the Donna Hay book which I burnt, despite practicing, at a dinner party I hosted…luckily still edible though haha) and can’t wait to start trying some new recipes!
The first two books were from my mum and came as a set. It’s the Women’s Weekly, Classic Collection of Cakes and Cupcakes. The Cupcakes book is my favourite because it has the most beautiful designs for cupcake decorating. It groups them into categories for weddings, birthdays, baby and miscellaneous celebrations including easter.
The next book was a gift from my sister. ”Veneza” by Tessa Kiros. This book is absolutely stunning. The pages are gold-lined and it has a velvet page marker. It contains various Italian recipes as well as Venetian culture, history, photography and traditions. It’s recipes are a little more involved but look delicious. I’ve yet to try anything from this book, but it’s next on my list!
The next book was from my boyfriend and I did ask him for this book, so was thrilled to get it! It’s the latest Jamie Oliver “15 minute meals”. I already have the “30 minute meals” and “Jamie’s Great Britain” so was glad to add this one to my collection. Jamie’s Great Britain is fantastic too actually, describing the history and influence of each recipe which is so surprising! It’s just like any other Jamie Oliver cook book, the photography is amazing, well presented yet rustic food. How he can make a mess on a piece of wood look so deliciously beautiful is beyond me. He’s just brilliant (and although the food photographers tidy up these photos, in the TV series he still makes it look amazing!). It also gives a calorie count which is nice!
Lastly was a book I bought for myself with a gift voucher I had. It’s Donna Hay’s “Fresh and Light”. This book is just so clean looking. It’s pristine white with beautiful pictures of the most vibrant food. I’ve already tried a couple of recipes and I love the iceblock recipe’s below!
Lastly, I also received the MasterChef Masterclass DVD series from my Aunt and Uncle which I cannot wait to revisit. I love the MasterChef series and can’t wait to try some of these out!
So there we go, plenty to keep me occupied for the next few months! I might share some of my favourites after experimenting for a while.

Love this!
I have a slowly growing collection – obv mainly vego, but I collect magazines with particularly good recipes in the cupboard as well!
